چکیده

We introduce a novel two-degree-of-freedom haptic display capable of reproducing the sensation of sliding contact on a fingertip. The modular device can be attached to a PHANTOM haptic interface and generates tactile sensations by actuating a ball positioned under the user’s index finger. Specifications for the device and mechanical design considerations are presented. Integration of the slip display, PHANTOM, and a virtual environment results in a system capable of generating both tactile and kinesthetic haptic sensations. We also present the results of two psychophysical experiments, detection of slip angle and slip velocity variation, on human perception of sliding contact. These experiments demonstrate that, despite design and manufacturing tolerance limitations, the functional performance of the device is sufficient for realistic display of sliding contact.

Method for displaying partial slip used for virtual grasp

A method is presented to display partial slip in precision grip of humans. Partial slip is important information for precision grip of humans, because the human controls grasping force by detecting expansion of the partial slip area. Therefore, a device that displays partial slip will make it easier for remote controlled mechanical hands to grasp objects, irrespective of the friction coefficien...

Slip Detection and Classification for Grip Control using Multiple Sensory Modalities on a Biomimetic Tactile Sensor

Achieving human-level performance in dexterous grasping tasks will likely require richer tactile sensing than is currently available [1]. Recently, biomimetic tactile sensors, designed to provide more humanlike capabilities, have been developed. These new sensors provide an opportunity to significantly improve the robustness of robotic manipulation. In order to take full advantage of the inform...

Design and Construction of a New Capacitive Tactile Sensor for Measuring Normal Tactile Force

This paper presents the design, construction and testing of a new capacitive tactile sensor for measurement of normal tactile force. The operation of proposed sensor has been investigated in ASTABLE and MONOSTABLE circuits. According to the results of these circuits the deviation of ASTABLE circuit results is less than MONOSTABLE circuit results. In addition, the results obtained from ASTABLE c...

Design and Performance of a Tactile Shape Display Using Rc Servomotors

Tactile displays are used to convey small-scale force and shape information to the fingertip. We describe a 6 x 6 tactile shape display design that is low in cost and easily constructed. It uses commercially available RC servomotors to actuate an array of mechanical pins. The pins deflect a maximum of 2 mm, with a resolution of 0.1 mm. The pin center spacing is 2 mm and the pin diameter is 1 mm...

اکستروژن سه بعدی به روش میدان خطوط لغزش

Many metal forming problems have been solved using the slip line field method but all of them have either been two-dimensional (plane strain or plain stress) or axisymmetric problems. In this paper a procedure has been proposed by which the slip line field solution to three dimensional problems of metal forming becomes possible. For this purpose the extrusion of shaped sections has been taken a...
